Servings: 4 servings
- 2 lbs Chicken Wings split, or whole
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Vegetable Oil for frying
- 1 cup Flour
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
Soy Garlic Sauce
- 1/2 cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- 1/4 cup Honey
- 6 cloves Garlic minced
- 1 tsp Ginger grated
- 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
- Green Onions finely chopped, for garnish, optional
- Sesame Seeds for garnish, optional
Pat dry the chicken wings with a lint-free paper towel to remove any excess water or liquid and place them in a large mixing bowl. Then season with salt and pepper, followed by a light dusting with a combination of flour and cornstarch.
In a Dutch oven or deep fryer heat oil to 375°F (190°C). Carefully place a few wings at a time into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 10 minutes or until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the wings and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil or drain on a wire rack.
Heat a saucepan over medium heat and combine soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes or see notes section on how to thicken with cornstarch slurry.
Toss the fried wings in the prepared soy garlic sauce and ensure even coating. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired, serve hot and enjoy!
Oven Baked Wings: Bake the chicken wings at 450°F (230°C) for about 40-45 minutes then toss in the sauce.
Air Fried Wings: Air fry the chicken wings at 400°F (204°C) for 20-25 minutes, tossing halfway through, until golden brown and coked through, then toss in the sauce.
To Thicken Sauce: combine 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water in a bowl to make a cornstarch slurry. Gradually add slurry to simmering sauce, stirring continuously until the desired thickness is reached.
Cooking Thermometer: Use a cooking thermometer to ensure accurate temperature.
