Hello there, welcome to The Seasoned Skillet! My name is Taneisha, and this is what I like to call my little corner on the internet, also known as my online kitchen – thank you for stopping by! Without a doubt I love cooking and all things kitchen, lifestyle and travel related. From grocery shopping, to purchasing and perusing new kitchen appliances and gadgets, cooking and experimenting with food; just give it all to me!
The purpose of TSS is to share recipes that are approachable, comforting, and wholesome. I believe balance is key in life, and that certainly translates to what we nourish our bodies with as well. My continued endeavour is to encourage and inspire all those in my sphere of influence to live a happy balanced purpose filled life.
In 2018, I married the most amazing man. His name is David. He is one of the kindest, most sincere, supportive, and lovable individuals I have come across; and truly the ying to my crazy yang. He has been my number one cheerleader since meeting him, and a great part of the creation of this blog is because of my hubs, David. On this site, you will find recipes inspired and created by him. He loves time spent with family, all things health and fitness, is a music fanatic, and loves to help people. You’ll get to know more about him throughout the blog, but I’m certainly grateful he’s my partner on this journey!
So here’s a little more about me! I grew up in Toronto, ON – I have a large, crazy, fun and loving family. My parents are proudly Jamaican, and they’ve done quite a phenomenal job of instilling Jamaican culture and vibrancy into my siblings and I. You will find many Caribbean dishes and fusion recipes on here as a result of this. I also have a deep love for family, music, travel, adventure and learning. I have visited quite a number of countries, and one of my life goals is to increase this number to 40 countries by the age of 40.
My love for the kitchen came from my mother – Jennifer. I grew up watching her everyday, effortlessly create the best, most tasty meals for our family. Always with a smile, never with a frown – for that I will always be grateful.
So that’s a little about me, this journey has been so tremendously rewarding. Grateful, humbled, honoured, are all words I typically use to describe this experience, yet they all pale in comparison to the true feeling. I’m so excited for what’s to come, you’ll find hundreds of recipes, blog posts on all things lifestyle and travel on here – so have fun browsing through all the pages and recipes, make yourself at home!
